Trauma

Lucie works with adults who have complex, shock, or vicarious traumas or symptoms thereof. Symptoms of complex trauma include: social connection challenges, negative self-concept, emotional dysregulation, re-experiencing the trauma (consciously and/or unconsciously), avoiding triggers, and experiencing a persistent sense of threat.

Those with complex trauma, or symptoms thereof, often have concerns with identity because they are stuck in dysregulated survival states and therefore relate to themselves and others through subconscious survival strategies. They usually feel like they move through the world with inauthentic personas and experience high sensitivity to triggers, which can evoke unprocessed traumatic emotions like intense rage, guilt, and/or shame.

With her empathetic, nonjudgmental approach, Lucie can work with you to help heal the brain and the body by processing the impacts of trauma at the root. She works with individuals who struggle with inauthentic self-expressions, which is often due to prolonged childhood maltreatment or long-term nervous system dysregulation.

Therapeutic Approaches

Lucie uses:

  • Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) is her primary, sensorimotor method of processing what the conscious mind cannot.
  • NeuroAffective Relational Model® (NARM) to help clients shift from their adaptation self into authenticity
  • Somatic Experiencing® (SE) techniques and Polyvagal Theory principles to track her clients’ nervous systems, as well as her own, while in session.
  • Schema Therapy to work with attachment ruptures and painful beliefs.
  • Neurofeedback! through FDA-cleared, medical-grade EEG technology, to facilitate neuroplastic change in real-time (for trauma, addictions, insomnia, ADD/ADHD, anxiety, depression, and so much more).

These modalities assist in exploring cognitive, emotional, and physiological processes that could be keeping clients stuck in emotionally painful and reactive states/patterns of the past. They also assist in rebalancing the nervous system with the intention of healing the impacts of prolonged trauma at the root. Overall, Lucie operates from a neuroscience, relational, ego-states, sensorimotor, psychodynamic, and attachment lens.
